Beginners and experienced practitioners of all ages are welcome. Classes are created based on students' needs. Props such as blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters are used to modify the poses to keep the spine in better alignment. Classes are kept small in order to provide individual attention and adjustments.
Tina has studied Iyengar yoga for 13 years and Sivananda yoga for the past three years. The blend of the two styles provides a practice which brings the technical and the experiential together so the student continually learns in a safe manner.
Classes are a combination of Iyengar and Sivananda yoga which were developed by BKS Iyengar and Swami Sivananda, two popular teachers in India. The focus of Iyengar yoga is on precision in alignment using props to keep the body injury free, and Sivananda yoga teaches proper breathing, relaxation and specific postures to develop internal strength and balance.
What to wear: clothes that are comfortable and allow free movement
What to bring: all props are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own mat and a bottle of water for after class
Try not to eat a meal two hours before class. Something light is fine. The body spends a lot of energy on digestion and it would take away from your practice and concertration. Yoga cleanses the body from the inside out improving circulation in the organs as well as the muscle and soft tissues. |
